🚀 General Questions
What is FASTag? ▾
FASTag is an electronic toll collection system in India, operated by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). It uses RFID technology to make toll payments directly from a prepaid account linked to your vehicle. FASTag is mandatory for all four-wheelers in India.
Is FASTag mandatory for my vehicle? ▾
Yes. As per the Government of India's mandate (effective February 2021), FASTag is compulsory for all four-wheeled vehicles. Vehicles without FASTag at toll plazas are required to pay double the toll amount.
Is Bharat Paye an authorized FASTag issuer? ▾
Yes. Bharat Paye is a registered and authorized FASTag issuing entity, fully compliant with NHAI and RBI regulations. All FASTags issued through Bharat Paye are valid at every toll plaza on the National Highways network.
What vehicles are eligible for FASTag? ▾
FASTag is available for all 4-wheeled motor vehicles including cars, jeeps, vans, buses, trucks, mini trucks, and construction vehicles. Two-wheelers and three-wheelers are currently exempt from the FASTag mandate.

If your FASTag is lost or damaged, immediately report it to us to block the tag. You can apply for a replacement FASTag (a nominal replacement fee applies). Your wallet balance will be transferred to the new tag after verification.
🛣️ Toll & Travel
Which toll plazas accept my FASTag? ▾
Your Bharat Paye FASTag is accepted at all NHAI-operated toll plazas across the National Highways network in India — over 700 toll plazas across 28 states. It is also accepted on many state highways and expressways.
What if there is insufficient balance at a toll? ▾
If your FASTag balance is insufficient, the toll gate will not open automatically for the RFID transaction. You will need to pay cash for that toll. A penalty (double toll) may apply at some plazas. Always ensure your balance is adequate before long trips.
My FASTag was scanned but my balance wasn't deducted. What should I do? ▾
Occasionally, there may be a delay in transaction processing due to connectivity at the toll plaza. Please wait up to 24 hours for the deduction to appear. If no deduction shows and you've crossed a toll plaza, contact us with the date, time, and toll plaza name and we'll investigate.
